About

Kierra Pickens, Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor

My eclectic style allows me to focus on integrating clients’ morals, values, and personal history. Clients and I collaborate to discover and determine the most effective goals. I believe in guiding clients with identifying ways counseling will lead to their personal growth and achievement. I am here to assist clients with addressing problems and processing issues in efforts to facilitate clients with living healthy, stable and prosperous lives.

I strive to tailor clinical approaches to each client. Clients are able to benefit from a wide range of treatment orientations including but not limited to: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Art Therapy, Mindfulness, Family Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Play Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Person Centered Therapy. Together we can determine the most effective approach.

I have experience in counseling practices throughout Chicagoland. These roles have included Mental Health Consulting with (CPS) Chicago Public Schools, Crisis Counseling, Counseling in Residential and Inpatient Psychiatric Treatment Facilities, and working in Community Mental Health Clinics. I have a professional certification as a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and a Masters degree in Clinical Psychology from Roosevelt University.

Courtney Robinson, Counseling Intern

As a clinician, I am committed to creating a safe space free of judgement and full of compassion for each client that works with me. I know coming to therapy isn’t always easy and it can be challenging to find the right fit.

Coming from a person centered perspective, my priority is to offer a listening ear and an authentic therapeutic relationship in which we can work together towards your goals. I see each of my clients as individuals and understand that the same approach may not work for everyone.

Other approaches that may be used include CBT and Solution Focused Therapy. I have experience working with LGBTQIA+ folks in both individual and group settings. I am affirming in my practice and am committed to supporting clients from all backgrounds as they navigate life’s ups and downs.
